Sticks and Stones!! OOPS!! Words hurt even more…(Proverbs 18:21)

sticks and stones

One of the biggest mistakes that we, as parents, have made is the old saying, “Sticks and stones may break your bones—but words will never hurt you!”
Most of us have tried to protect our children and teach them to not fight with others. We wanted them to walk away from conflict. We have repeatedly used this old saying… but we were wrong in saying that “words will never hurt you.” You see, I have found from experience that physical injury does hurt…but it heals a whole lot faster than the emotional wounds inflicted upon a victim by emotional, verbal, and psychological abuses. These harsh words cut like a knife!! But they cut past the skin, fatty tissues, muscles, bones and even internal organs—they cut down to the spirit and soul of that person who is a victim of those abuses! When most physical injuries heal within days or even if bad enough, weeks, these wounds down to that person’s spirit and soul may take years or a lifetime to heal. These wounds affect who this person is and God’s plan for their lives. You see, their view of things become distorted and most make wrong decisions. They can’t see clearly through the darkness of their abusive lives. So, YES…WORDS WILL HURT YOU. REALIZE THE POWER OF THE SPOKEN WORD…Proverbs 18:21 says “Death and life are in the power of the tongue.”..Speak positive, not negative!!!

    • I agree also. Reading your blog made me think that I could be reading about a portion of my life. I also understand “behind the mask of abuse” as I chose a secretive name as well for protection. I know that God hears all of our prayers and wants us to help others…Thanks for following!!! God bless you!!

  1. Again, thanks for following. I also have a book in publication that will soon be released and would love for you to read it. I pray that all victims will be rescued from their life of abuse. Blessings:)
