The A to Z of Abuse (2 Corinthians 12:9)

my-grace-is-sufficient-for-thee

Abused…
like an old fake smile.
Accused…
like a person on trial.
Broken…
like a raw egg dropped on a floor.
Shattered…
like shards of glass from a glass door.
Beaten…
like an old used punching bag.
Frayed…
like an old used dusting rag.
Empty…
like an overturned glass of wine.
Broke…
like someone without a dime.
Fearful…
like awaiting the next attack.
Lonely…
like wishing someone had your back.
Silenced…
like a person who can’t even speak.
Violated…
like a rag-doll with a future so bleak.
Feelings…
varied like words from A to Z.
VICTIM…
someone none of us wants to be.

No one wants to be abused.
No one chooses to be victim.
No one deserves to be victimized again by public opinion.
Too many people do not understand how a person becomes a victim.
Too many people blame the victim for being in that situation or remaining in that situation.
Too many do not understand how a person can be so broken.
What we need is compassion.
What we need is an understanding.
What we need is grace and mercy.

shane and shane

God’s grace and mercy are abundant. As Christians and fellow human beings, we too should have grace and mercy for all victims, not condemnation. We should love the unloved and reach out to the broken.

“My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” (2 Corinthians 12:9)

    • thank you so much. My heart goes out to all of those hurting by abuse and hurting from those who also condemn the victim. No one know what how it feels to be trapped in abuse unless you have been there…

  1. What an awesome post! I still kick myself for not getting out sooner, I don’t need anyone else to do that for me (although they have). God’s grace and mercy are indeed sufficient for me.

    • Amen.. I know that I heard it too. I hope that you read my book when it comes out. One chapter explains the soul-ties that keeps us in that situation and keeps pulling us back into it even when we have taken steps to get out. Thanks for continuing to follow…

  2. Thank you from yet another once-abused person. I was extremely abused for the first 22 years of my life, but like so many who are abused as a child, I didn’t know I was abused. I thought my life was normal, even though I was sure others lived differently. I thought my problems were all because I was so very evil.

Although I became a new person in Christ 8th June 1958 and my life changed completely from that day on, the verbal and emotional abuse suffered for all those years had caused such damage that the effects – at times – continued to control my thinking and attitude for many more years.

Now, I can praise God for everything that happened to me in my early life, for it helped make me what I am, and most importantly, it gave me a ministry to those who have suffered/are suffering.

    • Amen.. Yes, we definitely do not sign up for the abuse line…
but when it happens to us, God can and will use it to help others who go through similar tribulations and for HIS GLORY!! Thank you Lord for what you are doing in our lives.. Many, many blessings to you!
