Flip Flop: I Did Not Believe God Could Cause Everything to Work for Good (Romans 8:28)

http://dailypost.wordpress.com/2013/07/18/daily-post-transition/

Romans 8:28 (NLT) says, “And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them.”

I heard this scripture when my whole world fell apart. After years of being used and abused, I was so broken. I believed every lie that had been spoken to me. But I kept hearing that God would turn everything around for good. In my mind, I could not imagine that abuse, adultery, abandonment, and all the things that I had endured could end up being good. That was absolutely crazy to me…especially when Christians would tell me that one day I would be able to thank God for my abuser and everything that I had suffered through. Crazy, huh?

So, how is it possible that God could use all of that pain for my good? You see, I have come to realize over the years, that God could not have used my children and I with us trapped in that environment. I have come to understand that all that I went through that broke me down to nothingness, was the catapult that brought me and my children to the relationship that we have with The Lord now. I now realize that God used that mess that I was in to make a message to other victims. I realize that God used that test that I went through for a testimony for overcoming abuse. And yes, there are many abuses and many tests that we go through in this world, but I have learned to hold onto God through every trial and tribulation and He will help me through it… I now do believe that, “God will cause everything to work together for the good of those who love Him and are called according to His purposes.”

I feel God leading me to use this video today. You see, this person in this video was abused by society. She was laughed at, mocked, and held down by the criticisms of this world… But God had a plan for her and He opened the door for her in His timing… God has a plan for each of us!

  1. What an inspiration your blog is! Thank you for sharing your soul. It’s imperative to do that in order to help others help themselves. As God asks us to be humble before Him, we must be humble before our “chirren” who need us to show it’s okay.

  3. None of us who have been abused are strangers to shame and ridicule, Susan Boyle among us. Who’s laughing now, indeed! That video brought tears to my eyes when I first saw it, and today they appeared yet again. Thanks for following His lead.

And, yes, God is using you powerfully as a warning to abusers and a witness to the abused. I know what that’s like, too. may you continue to hear His voice and follow His prompts.

    • Thanks so much for your continued support. I know what you mean about Susan Boyle. I watched the video twice to make sure it opened correctly and had tears in my eyes each time. Talk about a transformed life! I really appreciate your encouraging comments.

God is so good! There will be things that I feel like I need to say but unsure how to say it…then there will be a daily prompt that fits the message perfectly… just like “stranger in a strange land”. I feel that this is His Blog and I am just His messenger. Thank you Lord!! Thanks again for your support and many blessings to you!

  4. Some of the strongest people I know have suffered the most, and they are the ones reaching back to pull others out. I applaud you for your work and consideration.

  5. Thank-you SA, for the support you’ve been giving my new blog. I am very grateful and glad you find Drops of Dew edifying and encouraging. After spending some time at your site, I can’t shake the feeling that you have been one of those ‘bruised reeds’ I wrote about that our Lord would not break; rather, in his hand, you can become a rod that will not bend in His service. Thank-you for all you are doing here.

    • Thank you so much for your support and encouragement. I love your site! Enoch… that we could walk so closely to God, pleasing Him so much, that we could be as Enoch, a friend of God for eternity. Wow! I appreciate your support as I walk this path that God has placed me on.. Many blessings to you!
