DV Awareness: Have You Ever Heard “IT’S YOUR FAULT!!!”

This is for the many who have been abused and blamed for things that are not their fault!!

I saw this posting…
and memories just flooded my mind.
Remembering abusive words spoken…
and things I thought were left behind.
“It’s your fault!! It’s all your fault!”
were words I’d frequently hear…
with a finger pointing at me…
and anxiety rising with fear.
For I had seen the anger…
and his violence hidden within.
And I feared his outbursts…
and anytime his anger would begin.
For his fuse was short…
ready to blow with a abusive assault.
So I dreaded those words…
“It’s your fault. It’s all your fault!!”
And so many of us have been victimized…
having suffered abusive lives…
where there’s no peace in our homes….
with abusive husbands or wives.
And words like these stab…
like a knife into our soul…
as we await the attack coming…
with more abusive words told.
And it affects how we react…
to others saying “it’s your fault”…
as we recognize that accusing finger…
and realize the verbal assault.
But God plans so much more…
than what we accepted in our life.
He has plans for good, not harm…
and not a life of abuse and strife.

Dear Lord, only You see the abuse that is hidden behind closed doors and the false accusations that are raged against us. You see the wounds that are inflicted upon our spirits and souls and the anger that lurks within the many hearts of abusive men and women. Deliver us from evil and set us free from the bondage of our past. Bring healing and restoration to all and lead us into our futures… in Jesus’ Mighty Name. Amen.

  1. I so needed to read this post today!! Even those of us who give of our time to help other’s, are still humans at the end of the day…..and yesterday was a day FILLED with ‘IT’s YOUR FAULT….blah blah blah’…..for the last couple of weeks I have been on the Ex’s ‘radar’ as I call it, and multiple emails of ‘it’s your fault this, it’s your fault that’…..uggggg. Ok, so it’s ‘my fault’ who cares!! LOL. Thank you for this post!! {and letting me vent} 😉

    • Tela… It is always a pleasure to see your name come up. You are welcome to vent anytime and even email me if you need. Those of us who have lived with these narcissistic individuals are so aware of how they behave for nothing is ever their fault. I had read your posting about your ex and knew that you were having problems with him. I thank God that I no longer have contact with mine. I will be praying for you, my sister. You are helping many. Keep speaking out!!

  2. The really bad thing about it is that as you grow hearing those accusations there comes a time when you believe them. Then you start thinking that is how God thinks about you. Then the devil takes advantage to accuse you too. Then you end up accusing yourself also. Finally everywhere you turn you see only accusing fingers.
We could end up trying so hard to please God, people and ourselves, just because someone told us the wrong things.
Thank Heavens for God’s unconditional love.

    • Amen!! You are so right. These words inflict wounds to the depths of our souls and cause so many of us to go down wrong paths. But Praise God who never leaves us and keeps reaching out to us… until we finally hear Him and our eyes are opened to His Presence.
Yes, His unconditional Love is always there waiting for us to receive it. God bless you, my sister!!
