Verbal and Emotional Abuse… is More Than Just Words Said

Verbal and emotional abuse…
is more than just words said.
It’s the attitude with it…
with underlying anger we dread.
For though no bruises are seen…
and no cuts are evident…
it’s underlying damage to souls…
is why it’s so relevant.
It leads us to accept…
these wrongs in our lives.
Thinking that it’s normal…
to be criticized and chastised.
But we deserve Peace…
not constantly torn down…
and it’s in God’s Presence…
that this Peace can be found.
For He loves the broken…
and will rescue them.
And I know it’s true…
for I was one of them.
Abused and broken…
physically, emotionally, financially…
But God showed up…
and I praise Him thankfully.
For what He did for me…
He can do for many more…
Just keep crying out His Name…
and He will open that door.

Dear Lord, only You hear the countless numbers of victims who cry out for help in silence. Only You see the wounds from these abuses to each victim’s soul and spirit. We pray for deliverance for all victims from the hands and mouths of their abusers. We also pray for total healing and restoration to all victims… that all that has been lost will be restored a thousand-fold. Rescue Your children and set them free and onto the path to wholeness with You… in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

  1. I does plenty of damage I am living proof of what it does. I am a bit angry tonight but it will get better. I’ve had a lot to sink in today how my health is and has been happening to my body over the years.

  3. so true, words spoken to really hurt are hardly ever forgotten. I know I still feel the affects of the angry and abusive words my daughter threw at me for no reason and never apologized for. Oh forgot to mention she is a Buddhist!!!!! – she learned the wrong message. Sigh! Eve

    • You are so right Eve! Words cause more damage than most people realize. But I stand with you in prayer for your daughter, that she will come to know the love of Christ and turn her heart to Him. We can have comfort in His Word for He says that if we train up a child in His ways, when older, they will not depart. Your daughter will turn to the Lord. We just have to stand in faith and thank Him. God bless you, my sister!!

  4. words? or the meaning of them? I care more about truth and how and why someone says something rather than what they say. In the end it’s how we view ourselves (which may or may not be impacted by others) eh, I view everything my way, just not a very good perspective. I have it a lot easier to see how ppl reacts to others rather than how ppl reacts to me as well

    • It’s words, meaning of words, and the intent behind them… It’s all of it that’s involved in emotional and psychological abuse. There is “power” in spoken words which allow words to cut like a knife. So many have distorted views of themselves due to the negative words spoken in their lives. This world would be so much better is we all treated each other with love and kindness.
