Emotional Abuse: Words, Acts… and Threats

This is a reminder to the many who do not understand the cycle of abuse and why victims stay. Fear is a paralyzing force that keeps many trapped in their abusive situations… whether or not a physical weapon is used.

Emotional abuse…
includes words, acts, and threats…
leaving wounds deep within…
that leads many to regrets.
For many of us have been abused…
with negative words that are spoken.
Which leads us down wrong paths…
and into lives that are broken.
But God had better plans for us…
than what we have accepted.
And that’s what abuse causes…
especially with threats unexpected.
For being threatened with words…
or even with a weapon in hand…
fills us all with fear…
and freezes many to just stand.
But too many are abused…
and others don’t understand…
why victims continue to stay…
with an abusive woman or man.

Dear Lord, only You see the multitude of victims who are trapped in abusive relationships with no hope for escape. You even see the countless numbers who have come to think that their situations are normal and acceptable, not even realizing that they are being abused. Open the eyes of Your children and set them free. Break the bondage of abuse and deliver them from their abusers with healing and restoration to all… in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
