The Power of Words Like “I Love You”

This is for the many victims, especially teens, who have been deceived and manipulated by these 3 words… “I love you!” Many have been hurt by years of rejection and abuse and search for someone to love them… many times in all the wrong places. Too many people are deceptive and use these words to get what they want… until we are no longer what they want. We have to be careful to watch the actions, not just the words that are spoken. It is important to guard our hearts and not just open them to mere words that are spoken.

The power of words…
is so evident in these few…
that thug at our hearts…
when we hear, “I love you”.
For so many of us are lonely…
never hearing these words spoken.
Then the first time we hear them…
they lead down a path to be broken.
For words are cheap…
and don’t cost a thing to say.
But they also hurt victims…
when mixed with deceit some way.
For “I love you” gets spoken…
in relationships that want more.
And they are like magic…
when some want to open a “door”.
But where do these doors lead…
and what path will many take…
as they follow those who speak it…
but end up making a big mistake.
For many use lies and deception…
to get what they want from some…
which leads many to brokenness…
from which we have to overcome.
For in our search for happiness…
when love is innocently desired…
these words are taken at face value…
instead of actions that have transpired.
And we ignore the warning signs…
even when flags keep getting thrown…
believing the lies and deception…
instead of the acts that are being shown.
But God’s love is real…
and that is what we need to know.
And He heals all of our brokenness…
even the wounds that don’t even show.
For He sees what is done…
with deception and abuses we endure…
and He is waiting with open arms…
with His Love that is never hidden behind doors.

Dear Lord, only You see the multitude who have been wounded by deceptive words and actions of others. We pray for discernment so we will never be deceived by the manipulations of man. Give us strength to wait on You and not fall into the traps laid by man. Guard our hearts and bring healing and restoration to the hearts and souls of Your children. Set us all free from the bondage of our pasts and help us to walk in the freedom that can only be found in You… in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

  2. That speaks to me..learned never to trust those words, becasue it was a set up to get something from me, manipulate and decieve, make you let your guard down….becasue you want to be loved, your soul craves love…but its not true, its not genuine…its a trick for all the nieve ..

    • Hi Nessa! I agree that many do use those words to deceive and manipulate others. We have to have the discernment to know when it is true and when it is not. I can tell you that I have been fooled by my ex… but it won’t happen again. Not that I don’t trust many men… but because I trust God more to lead my path. May God bless you!!
