Busyness and Emptiness

Busyness and emptiness…
is what many face everyday.
And as we struggle through life…
do we take the time to pray?
Do we run through our lives…
ignoring others in our busyness?
Or do we sit and mope…
feeling depressed in our emptiness?
Do we jump out of bed…
running around to get to our job?
Or do we get up earlier…
so time with God we will not rob?
Do we make our decisions…
on the spur of the moment each day?
Or do we seek God’s guidance…
with each decision as we pray.
Do we run around in servitude…
like “Martha” whom the Bible speaks.
Or do we spend time like Mary…
resting in prayer at our Lord’s feet.
For not praying and only serving…
like Martha did back then…
leads many to an emptiness…
and even leads some to sin.
For God wants more of us…
than most give Him today…
And that’s intimate time with Him…
getting into His presence to pray.
So stop the busyness…
that most think God requires…
and be filled with His presence…
which is what He truly desires.

Luke 10:38-42~~ As Jesus and his disciples were on their way, he came to a village where a woman named Martha opened her home to him. She had a sister called Mary, who sat at the Lord’s feet listening to what he said. But Martha was distracted by all the preparations that had to be made. She came to him and asked, “Lord, don’t you care that my sister has left me to do the work by myself? Tell her to help me!”

“Martha, Martha,” the Lord answered, “you are worried and upset about many things, but few things are needed—or indeed only one. Mary has chosen what is better, and it will not be taken away from her.”

  1. Busyness can be the enemy that hides a problem or an issue but it only allows the possibility of time to resolve. The problem or issue remains in many cases. Taking the time to pray, to read, to contemplate, then to react even if that is to do nothing, will bring peace to ones soul as we allow God to become our influence.

    • Amen!! Sometimes He just wants us to be still. It is in our stillness that we can develop that deeper relationship with Him… into His Holy Presence. God bless you, my brother.
