Wounds of Our Past… Like Muddy Waters

This is for the many who struggle with the wounds of their past from abuse and loss. God knows that you are struggling and sees every wound that has been inflicted upon you. He knows that your perception has been altered and sees the “muddy waters” that impede your vision and leave darkened areas of wounds on your soul. He knows your heart and that you are trying but weak. Remember, He will take every little drop that we can give Him or every little crumb. He will take what ever we can give Him till we can find the strength to give Him our all.

Wounds of our past…
like waters running deep…
darkens our souls…
like “muddy waters” that seep.
For minds are brainwashed…
with words putting us down…
and with repeated abuse…
such negativity can be found.
For “stinkin’ thinkin'”…
creeps into our minds…
like old muddy water…
contaminating all it finds.
But God knows our hearts…
and our deepest desires…
and sees every wound…
but it’s our heart He requires.
For we are so weak…
but in brokenness we submit…
repenting for impurities…
and any sins we commit.
And though we’re broken…
and in many pieces we fall…
we finally turn to Him…
then give Him our all.
For He knows we struggle…
with His Light hard to see…
from the wounds on our souls…
making our vision murky.
But He sees our hearts…
and every tear we cry…
reaching out for Him…
through brokenness we try.

  1. Some day’s it is as if you are in my head! ‘Muddy water’s’…….exactly what we find ourselves going through some days! Beautiful words! Thank you ❤

    • Hi Tela!! God is always so good to give us confirmation of what He is telling us and calling us out of. We have all seen our share of muddy waters and still have “muddy” views sometimes… but we are a work in progress and we can praise God for what He is doing. God bless you my sister!!

  2. Thank you. Every day, I face this battle against stinkin’ thinkin’. The more time I spend with the Father, the better it gets. Still, there are those days I need reminding He is there. Like today. 🙂

    • I totally understand what you are saying. I still have that “stinkin’ thinkin'” and God wants to heal all of us of that. We are His children, created in His image. We need to remember that and allow God to transform our minds. May He pour out His blessings upon you, my sister!
