Like a Wrecking Ball

This is for the many who don’t even understand the destructive force of abuse, whether in verbal or physical attacks, or how victims get trapped in the cycle of abuse. But we need to remember that abuse is not what is experienced initially. It is the kindness that draws victims in until the abuse begins. But we can overcome these traumas!!

Like a wrecking ball…
is how abuse can be…
causing major havoc…
every where we see.
Victims not knowing…
when a fist will hit…
whether flesh or walls…
in the next anger fit.
And avoiding triggers…
that cause anger to rise…
with screaming and yelling…
from Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hydes.
But victims learn silence…
in the midst of fear…
like walking on eggshells…
when an abuser is near.
And say “I’m sorry”…
again and again…
when feeling anger rise…
trying to avoid yelling again.
But this abuse cycles…
with displayed kindness to all…
until the next eruption…
with abuse like a wrecking ball.
But God sees all the abuse…
that keeps tearing us apart…
so we pray for Him to change us…
like a wrecking ball in our heart.
That abusers will be changed…
and victims also transformed…
that all hearts will be purified…
and to God’s will be conformed.

And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.” Romans 12:2

Dear Lord, only You see the abuses that have occurred behind closed doors and the deep wounds inflicted inside each victim’s heart. Deliver us from abuse and turn all hearts to You. Tear down the impurities deep within and transform hearts so we will treat all others with love and kindness… in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
