This is a message to someone who is struggling against the “giants” of this world. Remember to trust God through it all. Do not lean on your own understanding but stand in faith that He will take care of you…
As I was reading my Bible today, I was drawn to a portion of Numbers where Moses sent the 12 spies to spy out the “Land of Milk and Honey” that God had promised them. That portion made me think of my own life and the struggles that I have faced, as well as the many victims of abuse around the world.
So many of us face these “giants” and do not feel that we can overcome the obstacles in our path. We hesitate to advance to our own “land of milk and honey” that God has planned for us. We allow various fears to stop us instead of stepping boldly and claiming that we will win this battle, whether personal or corporate, because we have God on our side fighting for us. We choose to remain in abusive situations because it is our what we are used to anyway. We chose to remain victims instead of stepping out in faith to become victorious. Remember, Caleb boldly stated that they could overcome the giants. Caleb and Joshua were the only ones out of the 12 who were ready to walk in faith knowing that God was on their side so the battle was already won! The other 10 proclaimed that they were like “grasshoppers” compared to their giants and complained about God leading them there that their “wives and children should become victims.”
Well, God does not want any of us to be victims. He has a plan for all of us… “a plan for good, not for harm; to give us a future and a hope.” (Jeremiah 29:11) He wants us to live in Peace and comfort in our own “land of milk and honey” that He has planned for us. But we have to trust Him and walk in obedience as He leads like Caleb and Joshua. Or we can be just like the children of Israel of many years ago for God has given us all a choice… we too can walk around the wilderness for 40 years till we learn that He is the Key to overcome or run out of time waiting. Think about it… Will we be a victim or victorious against the giants that we encounter?
“Then Caleb quieted the people before Moses, and said, “Let us go up at once and take possession, for we are well able to overcome it.” Numbers 13:30
“The land through which we have gone as spies is a land that devours its inhabitants, and all the people whom we saw in it are men of great stature. There we saw the giants and we were like grasshoppers in our own sight, and so we were in their sight.” Numbers 13:32-33
“…And all the children of Israel complained against Moses and Aaron, and the whole congregation said to them, “If only we had died in the land of Egypt! Or if only we had died in this wilderness! Why has the Lord brought us to this land to fall by the sword, that our wives and children should become victims? Would it not be better for us to return to Egypt?” Numbers 14:1-3
