A Victim Mentality is How Many Are Perceived

As we talk this month about the various aspects of abuse, I want to remind all victims that we do not have remain in that rut of victimization. We can arise above the brokenness of our past and walk into the future that God has specifically designed for each of us… but we need to let go of the past to overcome and advance into our future.

A victim mentality…
is how many are perceived…
for it’s how they see themselves…
as their brokenness becomes believed.
For they have trouble…
rising about the traumas in their life…
becoming stuck in the rut…
reliving the turmoil and strife.
For these thoughts return…
again and again in their mind…
and then continued brokenness…
is what they repeatedly find.
But we can overcome…
with a victim mentality no more.
Letting go of all our pain…
to rise higher than before.
For how you see yourself…
is what you truly believe…
and it is this attitude you’ll carry…
displaying what you self-perceive.
So realize your worth…
for God has a plan for you…
specially designed and patterned…
with what He wants you to do.
And no one else can walk…
the path for which you are ordained…
so realize how special you are to Him…
and overcoming will be obtained.

“And who knows but that you have come to your royal position for such a time as this?” Esther 4:14

“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” Jeremiah 29:11

Dear Lord, You see the many victims of abuse who have been beat down to believe the lies that have been spoken. Your Word says that the enemy comes to kill, steal, and destroy. Empower Your children to rise above the lies of the enemy to overcome the abuses of their past and walk into the future that You have ordained for them as part of Your Kingdom. Bring healing and restoration to the hearts of all and set them free from the bondage that has held them captive. Help all to declare “victim no more” and boldly take our place with You by our side as overcomers to walk in the fullness that You have planned for each of us… in Jesus’ Name.  Amen.

  1. It takes a committed effort to rise above all kinds of pain in our lives. It helps to have a network of friends, family, and/or professionals to help with keeping and applying that effort. But it can be done. It may be a while before we see results, but stay the course and pray to God for strength. In time, victims will see results within themselves. Steve
