SCARS of The Abuses We Endured

So many of us have been wounded by the words and actions of others, and we have scars to prove it. But God does heal and restore… and plans for our testaments to help many more.

Scars…
of the abuses we endured…
or testaments…
of the overcoming we’ve secured.
For wounds…
are caused deep to our soul…
but when healed…
we will have stories to be told.
For each story…
will help how others feel…
as they also realize…
that it’s possible for them to heal.
For these scars…
feel like they will never be gone…
but all things are possible…
when the healing power of God is shown.
For God will use our scars…
with our healing and restoration story…
as a testament of His Grace…
as we lovingly give Him all the Glory!

Dear Lord, You see the wounds inflicted and the scars that remain from the wounds of our past. Raise us up as a testament to Your Glory, that we can speak boldly and help others as we tell our story. Rescue us from those who inflict harm and heal us with Your Grace and Mercy. Help us to walk in faith and stand on Your Word that all things work together for good for those who love You and are called according to Your purposes… and though we may not see it in the midst of our pain, we will trust You as we lay down our lives for You to use… in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

” He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds.” Psalm 147:3

“But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities; The chastisement for our peace was upon Him, And by His stripes we are healed.” Isaiah 53:5

“And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose.” Romans 8:28

  1. scars are reminders that we should be careful the next time around..it is likewise a manifestation of God’s great love for us: we are wounded, we are scarred but we lived- live to be born again..

    • Amen! You are so right… Live to be born again! It is only in our brokenness that we finally reach for Him and get reborn!! Thanks for your encouraging comment. Many blessings to you!

  2. “For these scars…
feel like they will never be gone…” What a powerful sentence! And yes, it seems like the scars that are not ‘seen’ will never be gone, we do have to Trust in Our Lord, for he has and will continue to bring healing and peace to those who have been abused.

  3. I do think they become badges of courage, survival and God’s love for us, through us as we understand the glory and the gift of all that happens to us. The harder we endure, the higher consciousness we are gifted to obtain in this lifetime. We must all wear our badges with honor, not regret or shame. As your words so beautifully say, our scars uniquely qualify us to help others see the beauty in their scars.

      • How interesting! I have always felt there was something to women who recover from abuse through spirituality. It is really exactly the same course depending on how long someone sticks with it and tries to grasp what it’s all about. I do think the deeper the wounds, the greater the gifts if one can see their way to it.

      • Amen!! I would love for you to read my book then. What God did for me, I know that He can and will do for many more victims of abuse. God bless you… and hope you had a Blessed Happy Thanksgiving!

      • Thank you! I agree, God steps in once we ask and never lets up. I think we get to a point where we want real love, available love, and we are blessed with unbelievable pure love from God, let the healing begin, a true awakening in which there is no turning back. And why would anyone want to once you reach a certain point of understanding. It’s so much more interesting than being abused and feeling trapped! Once we choose to help ourselves first, it all starts to unfold doesn’t it? So very happy for you and where you are now!

      • Your words perfectly describe it…”a true awakening in which there is no turning back.” When God opens the eyes of your heart to receive Him, everything that you ever heard about Him goes from head knowledge to heart knowledge. There is no turning back once we have that deeper revelation of who His is and how much He loves us. Many, many blessings to you, my friend!!
