Strength… Where Do You Get Yours From? (Samson and Delilah)

This is for the many victims who are deceived and weakened by the abuses that we suffer. We need to consider where we get our strength from and hold onto our Source of strength… for we can do all things through Christ who strengthens us.

Strength…
Where do you get yours from?
Is it from “working out”…
or just the faith to overcome?
Where do you turn…
when you feel down and worn?
Do you stay depressed…
or reach to God to transform?
And where do you go…
when you feel lowly and weak?
Do you go to a doctor…
or is it God’s healing you seek?
And where do you turn…
when you feel all alone?
Do you follow the worldly ways…
or seek more of God to be known.
For we all have a choice…
and can be spiritually strong or weak…
so do we look to the world or God…
for the answers that we seek?
For Samson had strength…
that was supernaturally blessed…
but when he lusted after Delilah…
his life turned out to be a mess.
For he was blinded by men…
after he was first blinded by lust…
revealing the secret of his strength…
to Delilah who he’d wrongfully trust.
But in his dark solitude…
as a prisoner with his cut hair…
he cried out to God for forgiveness…
and his strength returned while there.
For his strength was in his hair…
that God had instructed never to be cut.
But when he followed the world’s way…
he ended in a prison cell rut.
So seek God’s strength…
and do not be lead astray…
for it is better to walk in obedience…
than to follow in the world’s way.

Philippians 4:13
“I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.”

Judges 16:15-22
“Then she said to him, “How can you say, ‘I love you,’ when you won’t confide in me? This is the third time you have made a fool of me and haven’t told me the secret of your great strength.” With such nagging she prodded him day after day until he was sick to death of it. So he told her everything. “No razor has ever been used on my head,” he said, “because I have been a Nazirite dedicated to God from my mother’s womb. If my head were shaved, my strength would leave me, and I would become as weak as any other man.” When Delilah saw that he had told her everything, she sent word to the rulers of the Philistines, “Come back once more; he has told me everything.” So the rulers of the Philistines returned with the silver in their hands. After putting him to sleep on her lap, she called for someone to shave off the seven braids of his hair, and so began to subdue him. And his strength left him. Then she called, “Samson, the Philistines are upon you!” He awoke from his sleep and thought, “I’ll go out as before and shake myself free.” But he did not know that the Lord had left him.
Then the Philistines seized him, gouged out his eyes and took him down to Gaza. Binding him with bronze shackles, they set him to grinding grain in the prison. But the hair on his head began to grow again after it had been shaved.”
