Reflections of Times Passed

This is for the many victims of abuse who have been consumed by the darkness in their lives. There is Light through that door if you can just break free to step into your future. God has plans for you that are good, not for harm, to give you a future and a hope. Many of us have been there and as we can look back, we can tell you that though not easy, we have found more Peace than imaginable when we broke free from the abuse. And only now as we look back, we can see how far we have come.

Reflections of times passed…
looking back over our life.
Remembering good and happy times…
as well as the pain and strife.
For another year has passed…
as time marches on and on.
And so many of us are better off…
as our days of being victims are gone.

For we left behind the abuse…
with the daily emotional attacks…
and though moving on is not easy…
we’ve declared to never go back.
And taking that first step is hard…
deciding to be a victim no more..
as we step out of the darkness…
into the Light through the open door.

For our lives were shrouded in darkness…
but now we are surrounded by Light…
as new seasons of our lives began…
with our futures now appearing bright.
For God does not want us abused…
and His plans are for good, not for harm…
so hold onto Him for your future…
and seek comfort as You rest in His arms.

Dear Lord, only You know the multitude of Your children who have been wounded by abuse. Lead them out of the darkness that consumes them and into the Light of Your Presence. Rescue them like You rescued so many of us with healing and restoration. Help them to feel Your Peace that surpasses all understanding as we hold onto You to lead us into our future… in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

  1. It is so true that sometimes we do need to look back at where we were to see the progress we’ve made. They say you can’t look back because you can’t see where you’re going. But I think we need to look back at times to see where we have been. It’s part of making progress…

    🙂

      • Without a doubt, we need to always be aware and grateful for the blessings of progress He has made possible in our lives. We always need to be in thankful prayer for such things.

      • This is sooo true! I think looking back for improvement’s sake is far different from looking back in longing or pining for the past…

Thank you for your comment and happy new year!

        Steve 🙂

      • Amen… There is a huge difference. God gives us comfort during our trials and tribulations so that we can comfort others through similar trials and tribulations. Being able to look back and see how far we have come is part of our testimony which helps others to overcome too.

      • Exactly right, Angel. I couldn’t have said it better myself. Finding success from our past to use for the future, either to help ourselves or others, is a good thing.

The difference is that we aren’t looking back and saying we had things better back then. Likewise, we can’t constantly be reminding ourselves of how bad things used to be. We always need to move ahead in order to improve…

      • Well I am not sure if I’m moving forward but I am moving on. I’ve decided to stop posting to my website in favor of some other things I’m considering.

Thank you for your support here, Angel, you have been wonderful to talk and share with!

      • Steve, you have been a blessing. I understand that times are changing and God is calling us to do “a new thing” in a variety of ways. May He continue to orchestrate your steps into your future and pour out abundant blessings upon you and your family!! Much Love and ((hugs)) to you my brother!

      • How sweet you are and have been to me here, Angel. I’ve always admired how you fought your way out of a horrible set of abusive circumstances with the help of the Lord.

And then, you have fought to share with and help others each day who may be in similar situations. May the Lord continue to bless your way, and you and your family!

        Thank you for your support…

        Steve
