The Walking Wounded– Chapter Seven (The WW Give-Away Continues)

Today we continue the weekly postings with excerpts or summaries of each chapter of The Walking Wounded in celebration of it’s Participant’s Manual being recently released for group study.  This will be followed by a “give-away” of a combination of The Walking Wounded: The Path From Brokenness to Wholeness and The WW Participant’s Manual in a drawing which will include the names of all who comment and contribute their thoughts and even their own testimony of brokenness to wholeness. Please join us on this journey…

CHAPTER SEVEN
Marriage

*******
The marriage chapter further explains abuse and how it cycles
through the various stages. The stages of abuse continue from tension
building to explosive to another honeymoon phase. Various types
included: emotional, verbal, physical, sexual, spiritual, and financial.
The victim endures these abuses day by day, accepting them as normal
behavior. Her lack of self-esteem and severe insecurity which led
her to the wrong choice in a mate is growing. The abuser constantly
intimidates her, harasses her, and degrades her which puts her in
a state of fear, never knowing when the next explosion is going to
occur again. Then, when children are born, the verbal, emotional,
and physical abuse begins for the children—a continuation of the
abuse cycle.
My story continues here through our first horrible year of marriage
filled with alcoholic outbursts and with excessive drinking
through the birth of all of our children…
