A Baggage Check– Is What We All Need to Do

A baggage check
is what we all need to do.
Examining what we carry…
whether it’s good or bad for you.
Is it positive or negative…
or somehow associated with strife?
Is it a burden we carry…
that somehow drags down our life.
Is it loaded with anger or bitterness…
against someone who’s caused you pain.
Or is it filled with wounds of brokenness…
with feelings of guilt, rejection, or shame.
Is it by our own choice…
that we carry such a heavy load.
Or can some of our baggage…
be willfully left on the side of the road.
So we need to check our baggage…
and sort out what we only need.
Then allow Christ to help us…
and by His Word we will heed.
For He will help us along…
and carry our loads by His might…
but let’s examine our “baggage”…
for His Yoke is easy and burdens are light.
Let go of all the “heaviness”…
that so many of us drag along…
and yoke up with Christ…
for to Him we all belong.
He carried His cross…
as He gave His Life for our sins…
so get  rid of unwanted baggage…
for our journey with Him to begin.

“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.” Matthew 11: 28-30

Dear Lord, only You see the “baggage” that so many of us carry. You see the wounds of brokenness that negatively affect our lives. Help us to sort through our baggage and get “rid” of all useless words, thoughts, or deeds. Bring wisdom and understanding as we sort through our lives with total healing and restoration from all wounds of our past. Help us to “yoke” up with You and walk into our future with You as You help us to carry only what’s necessary for our future that You have planned… in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
