Broken… But Holding On

This is for the many who seem to be trapped in never ending trauma and drama as abuses and deceptions keep going around and around. But we have a God who sees all and knows all. We just need to remember to hold onto Him in the midst of the turmoil.

So many are broken…
by the world and its traumas…
with various abuses experienced…
with turmoil and all its dramas.
And though we want it to stop…
as the turmoil goes around…
it seems we’re stuck by forces…
like a fast spun merry-go-round.

But all we can do…
as the spinning goes around…
is keep holding on to the One…
where total Peace can be found.
For Christ is the Calm…
in the midst of every storm…
and He’s been our Advocate…
since the day we were born.

And though man fails us…
again and again and again…
Christ will hold us up…
even when our heads seem to spin.
So let’s keep our eyes on…
the One who has overcome every test…
for He is the source of our strength…
in the midst of all this life’s stress.

Dear Lord, You see the abuses and deceptions that continually plague Your children. Give us the strength to overcome all the traumas and dramas that come against us. Help us to hold onto You in the midst of every storm and give us Your Peace that surpasses all understanding… in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

“Broken” by Trisha Yearwood from The Passion: New Orleans

The broken clock is a comfort, it helps me sleep tonight
Maybe it can stop tomorrow from stealing all my time
I am here still waiting though I still have my doubts
I am damaged at best, like you’ve already figured out

[Chorus]
I’m falling apart, I’m barely breathing
With a broken heart that’s still beating
In the pain, there is healing
In Your Name, I find meaning
So I’m holding on, I’m holding on, I’m holding on
I’m barely holding on to You

The broken locks were a warning, you got inside my head
I tried my best to be guarded, I’m an open book instead
I still see your reflection inside of my eyes
That are looking for a purpose, they’re still looking for life

I’m falling apart, I’m barely breathing
With a broken heart, that’s still beating
In the pain, there is healing
In Your Name, I find meaning
So I’m holding on, I’m holding on, I’m holding on
I’m barely holding on to You

I’m hanging on another day
Just to see what You throw my way
And I’m hanging on to the words You say
You said that I will be OK
The broken lights on the freeway, left me here alone
I may have lost my way now, haven’t forgotten my way home

I’m falling apart, I’m barely breathing
With a broken heart that’s still beating
In the pain, there is healing
In Your Name, I find meaning
So I’m holding on, I’m holding on, I’m holding on
I’m barely holding on to You
