The Garden of Your Heart

What do you grow…
in the garden of your heart?
For it’s where seeds are planted…
and the growth of roots start.
For roots of bitterness…
lust, and anger all grow…
so what is in our hearts…
we really need to know.
For good seeds grow…
mixed with every bad seed…
and it’s these bad ones…
we really need to weed.
So let’s examine our hearts…
and what’s hidden in there…
for we need to decipher…
whether it’s “wheat or tares.”
For Love, joy, and peace…
are some of the good seed…
but lust, immorality, and anger…
are some we all need to weed.

“Another parable He put forth to them, saying: “The kingdom of heaven is like a man who sowed good seed in his field; but while men slept, his enemy came and sowed tares among the wheat and went his way.” Matthew 13:24

“When you follow the desires of your sinful nature, the results are very clear: sexual immorality, impurity, lustful pleasures, idolatry, sorcery, hostility, quarreling, jealousy, outbursts of anger, selfish ambition, dissension, division, envy, drunkenness, wild parties, and other sins like these. Let me tell you again, as I have before, that anyone living that sort of life will not inherit the Kingdom of God.
But the Holy Spirit produces this kind of fruit in our lives: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control.” Galatians 5:19-23

Dear Lord, purify our hearts. Help us to weed out all the “seeds” that have bad behaviors, attitudes, and every stronghold attached. Deliver us from evil and help us to walk with the Fruits of the Spirit evident in our lives… in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
