A Scripture to Remember: James 1:19

Have you ever said something…
then wanted to take it back.
But the words came flying out…
like a verbal attack.
And though no harm was meant…
once spoken it’s too late…
for the damage is done…
even though it may be a mistake.
So be quick to listen…
and slow to speak out…
for that’s what God wants…
and what righteousness is about.
For Christ showed us the way…
to treat all with respect…
and until we do that…
what more can we expect.

“Understand this, my dear brothers and sisters:
You must all be quick to listen,
slow to speak, and slow to get angry.” James 1:19

Dear Lord, forgive us for speaking out when You want us to be silent. Teach us to listen more intently and remain silent till You tell us what to say. Help us to learn to only do what You tell us to do and say what You tell us to say so we can be more Christ-like and walk in the fullness of the calling that You have on our lives… in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
