Forgiveness and Repentance

Forgiveness is not easy to do…
and even seems impossible at times.
But Christ hung on a cross for us…
like those who actually did commit crimes.
For He gave up His Life for our sins…
and bared all our guilt and shame…
so we must repent for our wrongs…
and forgive others as Christ did the same.
For even with His suffering He prayed…
“Forgive them for they know not what they do.”
And that’s what we should also pray…
as we walk as God called us to.
For the enemy comes as a bandit…
to kill, steal, and destroy.
And He uses many others…
who are unsuspecting of his ploy.
But we have all sinned…
and fallen into the enemy’s scheme…
though some want to hurt others…
and may even carry it to the extreme.
But God knows our hearts…
and what was our true intent…
so just ask for forgiveness…
and for any wrongs just truly repent.

  1. That phrase is all well and good…but Jesus was Gods’ son. It was his destiny and He didn’t really have a choice.
He hung on the cross for us, sure….he forgave…sure….but we’re not all that divine. Forgiveness is not in my portfolio. Never will I forgive and let the monsters who destroyed me off the hook. NEVER.

    • God knows how much you are hurting and that you can’t forgive right now. I struggled with this also with my ex and just started saying, “Lord, reward them for their deeds— whatever they are.” It was sarcastic because I wanted him to hurt as much as I did but God eventually helped me… like pealing an onion. Layer by layer of wounds and years of hurt have to be pealed back. It’s a process that starts with one step. And I actually did not want to take that step until someone told me that God could not punish him unless I released him to God with forgiveness. It’s not easy. I totally understand your pain.

    • Amen! You are right, it is not easy… and it is a process… layer by layer, wound by wound. But God knows our hearts and He will help us. Thanks and God bless you!
