Body of Christ and Army of God– It’s Two Different Things

Image result for army of God

I heard this discussion the other day
and really want to share today.

“We are all part of the Body of Christ…

but not all are part of the Army of God.”

*******

Now many “Christians” are content…
to sit in a pew each week…
listening to a priest or preacher…
but God’s Will they may not seek.
And though many may live in sin…
but in Jesus Christ they do believe…
they are part of His Body…
but it’s fullness they may not yet receive.
For to be filled with His Spirit…
is the best way for a battle to be won…
for when He fights within you…
the victory is His before the battle has begun.
And so many even don’t understand…
if instructed to ‘gird up” to fight…
for the Armor of God is foreign to them…
for they have not been filled with His Light.
And an army can’t battle…
until it’s armor and gear is on right…
so only those who understand…
are called to the army of God to fight.
So though we’re all part of His Body…
not all are part of His Army today…
but He is calling all to rise up…
for there’s a spiritual war going on this day.
So who will answer His call…
to a new spiritual level today…
to walk in obedience as He leads…
no matter what He tells us to do or say.

The Armor of God– Ephesians 6:10-12
Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.”

  1. Hi Secret Angel,

Thanks for sharing this. I can’t say I completely agree, although I think you are simply making an observation, that not all in the Church are mobilised for battle…and that I agree. But I really wouldn’t conclude that some are called to be part of the Body and not the Army of God, or that you can be in the Body, and still abide in sin and not hunger and thirst for God. It would be like a branch that doesn’t desire nourishment from the Vine, it would certainly wither and fall off, or like Jesus said, God would cut it off Himself.

I think it is much better for all who consider themselves to be in the Body to consider themselves called to Battle. Paul’s message to put on the whole armour of God wasn’t for a select few Believers, but for all of us.

    Sincerely, Ufuoma.

    • Hi Ufuomacee, I totally agree with you but I speak from experience, not just observation. I have always believed in God and sat in church every Sunday like many Christians… while doing what we wanted on Saturday night and all other days. But that was the extent of our walk as we listened to a “man” and were never encouraged to read a word of the Bible or seek a deeper relationship with God.We were “milk-drinkers”, taking in only what was given to us but we were still part of the Body of Christ. Then God brought me to other churches and other levels with Him where I learned deeper things of the
Spirit. It was then that a hunger and thirst for God was ignited and I saw the ere of my ways which was acceptable at man’s standards. It’s in that desire for Him that we get into the “Meat” of His Word which includes the Armor of God. There are many who fall into this group of believers as I did. They do not understand the totality of what Christ has done for us. They acknowledge the cross and get to the cross but stop there. Many still pray to “Baby Jesus” and to Christ on the Cross… but He is no longer a “Baby” and He is no longer on the cross. To be part of His Army, we need to pick up our cross and carry it as He did. Yes, we are all called to be part of His Army… but too many still do not understand and have to be weaned from the “milk” that is fed many in the Body of Christ. It is only then that they will learn the deeper things of the Spirit including spiritual warfare to fight as part of God’s Army.
Thank you so much for your comment. God bless you!
