DV Awareness Day #6: Abuse and Loneliness

Image result for abuse and loneliness in children

As I woke up this morning, these first few verses came to me… then I remembered a picture of a very shy, timid little girl and wondered what had happened to her.

Abuse and loneliness…
often go hand in hand…
with deep hidden wounds…
that most don’t understand.
For victims become isolated…
with feelings of inferiority…
as abusers have silenced them…
with abusive power and superiority.
For the wounds of abuse…
cause victims to be introverts..
as they carry burdens alone…
compared to the outspoken extroverts.
So next time you see a child…
sitting apart and all alone…
look deeper at what is hidden…
for most wounds of abuse are not shown.
Is it their inborn personality…
or is it a result of some trauma?
Is it deep hidden wounds…
or some recurrent household drama?
What has happened in their life…
to make them so insecure?
For all children should be loved…
feeling nurtured and secure.
So think about the possibilities…
when you see someone silent and alone…
for there may be more to their story…
but in their silence it won’t be known.

Dear Lord, only You see the multitude of children and adults who are shy and timid for various reasons… and only You know the true reasons behind the feelings of inferiority and insecurity with each one. We pray for healing and restoration to all. We ask You to give them a boldness to speak and a newfound Fire within them to overcome their past and reach for the future that You have planned for them… in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
