Have You Ever Looked in a Mirror

Have you ever looked in a mirror…
and not like what you see.
But it’s not just physical…
but a deep hidden impurity.
As you think of words you spoke…
and remember how bad they “tasted”…
then you regret ever  saying them…
for negative words are always wasted.
And you remember those words…
that came out like a jab…
then have to repent for their release…
for spoken words can be like a stab.
And you remember the hidden feelings…
with anger and bitterness deep-seeded…
and you have to repent again…
for it’s not how you’d want to be treated.
Or you remember how you acted…
when a beggar was on the street…
when you couldn’t get away fast enough…
though he was cold and walking with bare feet.
And though you had money…
you did not think to share…
so was it for mammon or selfishness…
or you just did not care.
Or you remember all you ate…
and that gluttony is a sin…
when many are so hungry or starving…
realizing overeating must come to an end.
And then you can see your heart…
and the impurities deep within…
as you realize it’s time for change…
and for healing and restoration to begin.
For our hearts can become hardened…
when they are repeatedly broke…
and it’s revealed as impurities…
with deeds and even words that are spoke.
And these things we do and say…
reveal the condition of our heart
so let’s repent for these things…
and pray for the impurities to depart.
For purity of heart…
is what we should all desire…
but thanks to God’s grace and mercy…
a total pure heart is not required.

Dear Lord, only You see the wounds within each heart and the sins, transgressions, and iniquity that lies within each person. We thank You for the grace and mercy that You bestow upon us. We thank You for exposing these impurities and the darkness within our hearts and ask You for total healing and restoration. Remove the impurities. Remove all sin from our bloodlines as we repent to You. Give us a pure heart and a fresh start to walk with You in righteousness each day… in Jesus’  Name. Amen.

  1. Your words are always a spiritual nourishment! Their blessing dresses my soul! Simply beautiful!

    He Always Gives His All

    The embrace of my love
    is warm and gentle

    The lips of my love
    are like warm honey
    so sweet to the taste

    There is nothing
    I would not do
    to please my love

    For my Love holds back
    nothing from me, but
    my love…”Always Gives His All.”
