Abused… Remember, You Are Not Crazy

Abused…
with some memories a little hazy?
Well rest assured…
remember, you are not crazy.
For abusers twist truth…
and pound you with repeated lies…
as a way to control and manipulate…
while the real truth is disguised.

And after years go by…
and the web of lies has grown…
sometimes it takes others to decipher…
for the real truth to be known.
For others see what’s happening…
even though victims can’t see clear…
and just like a friend told me yesterday…
“I could have told you but you would not hear.”

Now to hear, “You were not the crazy one”…
after several years have passed…
brought more healing to deep wounds…
with confirmation of abuse in the past.
For we never know in our haze…
who believes the abuser or the abused…
and it’s only when we later touch base…
that friends can reveal how we were used.

For others see the abuse…
and how the victims try to keep peace…
but also see how victims are in a haze…
so the truth they see is not released.
So I want to thank friends…
who bring healing with truth exposed…
for when victims are in that situation…
they’re not sure what any friend knows.

Like who is for them or against them…
is a battle fought in a victim’s mind…
for abusers have laid the foundation…
and victims are not sure what they’ll find.
More anger and resentment like some family…
or love and compassion for their pain…
but when friends bring confirmation of abuse…
a huge amount of healing will be gained.

So thank you to those friends…
whose love and compassion have remained…
for you’ll never know how much you’ve helped…
and how much healing victims have gained.
For to know more of the truth…
and that we as victims are not crazy…
brings more clarity to our lives…
as truth clears up things that may be hazy.
