Domestic Violence Awareness: Financial Abuse

Financial abuse…
comes in various different forms…
but abusers withholding funds…
is what many consider the norm.
But really financial abuse…
covers several different ways…
from using all a victim’s money…
or failing to provide as one plays.
For some victims are controlled…
by their abusers keeping all the funds…
then they have no means of support…
and seemingly can’t afford to run.
And some elderly victims struggle…
as they are financially abused…
as their own family self-indulges…
and their resources are misused.
Then some victims work and work…
while their abusers spend and spend…
failing to contribute their share…
while spending sprees seem to never end.
Now the only reason I know…
is from experience of this kind…
and God had to reveal it to me…
as I struggled to leave my past behind.
For only God knows each heart…
and the motive of each act that’s done…
so seek Him for healing and restoration…
and claim back all misappropriated funds.

Dear Lord, only You know the multitude who are financially abused by spouses, families, and even care-takers. You know the intent of their hearts. You see the abuse and the various ways that abusers use control and manipulation. We pray for deliverance for all victims of financial abuse. We pray that all that has been stolen will be replaced. Lord, we ask for healing and restoration for all victims of abuse and that all funds that have been stolen, swindled, and misappropriated for the benefit of the abusers will be multiplied and returned to the victims… in Jesus’ Name, we pray. Amen.
