Domestic Violence Awareness: Victim Blaming and Victim Shaming

Image result for victim blaming

Victim blaming…
and victim shaming…
is something we should never do.
Saying it’s the clothes victims wear…
or they just shouldn’t have been there…
is giving victims part of the blame too.
But every victim has a right to say NO…
and this we all need to know…
because it could happen to any of you too.
For it’s not the clothes we wear…
or the way we do our makeup and hair…
that lead perpetrators to do what they do.
For rape is about manipulation and control…
and a means to destroy your soul…
that lead rapists to choose a victim or two.
So have compassion and not blame…
treating with kindness and not shame…
and try to see it through the victim’s view.

Dear Lord, only You know what lies deep within each person’s heart. Only You see the true intentions hidden deep where the eyes of man does not see. Expose the plans and evil actions of these perpetrators of innocent victims. Protect these victims and stop the victim blaming. Change the legal system to do more to help these victims with compassionate assistance through the legal entanglements that have brought blame and shame upon victims of violent crimes. Bring healing and restoration to every victim and empower them to speak out against this violence… in Jesus’ Name, we pray . Amen.
