A Lesson Learned in the Whirlwind

As we talked about turmoil in a domestic violence support group yesterday, I remembered this lesson that God showed me one day, and I wanted to share it with you. We have to look past the turmoil and whirlwinds in our lives and refocus on the One who can help us overcome it all.

This lesson is true…
so now I will share with you.
God opened my eyes yesterday…

with what I am about to say.
As I turned down a lonely street…
I saw a man with an impossible feat.
The wind was blowing in his trees…
with 1000’s of leaves twirling in the breeze.
These leaves circled in a whirlwind…
surrounding this man in the midst of the wind.
And as these leaves repeatedly twirled around…
this man was uselessly sweeping the ground.
For this man could not see…
past the leaves that surrounded he.
But as I looked down the street…
I realized what God wanted me to see.
Stillness…
Absolute stillness in the air…
With not another breeze anywhere.
No other whirlwinds twirling round…
only 2 other leaves falling slowly to the ground.
And I realized this man symbolized me…
when I focus on my problems and not on Thee.
When we focus on our problems in this world…
it’s like being trapped in the wind as it twirls.
We have to get our eyes off the leaves…
and look past the forest and the trees.
So, God, I repent for being down and blue…
as I refocus my eyes on You.
It was a lesson learned that day…
and I pray You continue to guide my way.
So here is the lesson for us all…
don’t look at our problems, big or small.
We all need to just focus our eyes on Yahweh!!
For He is the Key to overcoming each day.
