Verbal abuse hurts children…
is the thought that I had today…
for unfortunately many are wounded…
by negative words even loving parents say.
For the power of the spoken word…
inflicts wounds that human eyes can’t see…
but many children have been broken…
by the harmful words and deeds of family.
For the deep bruises don’t show…
that are inflicted upon a child’s soul…
and children will protect their family…
by not repeating negative things told.
So beware of the words you use…
that they will build up and not tear down…
cause even if you don’t see it now…
brokenness will one day be found.

“Fathers, do not provoke your children to anger by the way you treat them. Rather, bring them up with the discipline and instruction that comes from the Lord.” Ephesians 6:4

Dear Lord, only You see and hear the negative and abusive words that are spoken to children behind closed doors and even in public. You see the wounds that have been inflicted upon them deep to their spirits and souls. We pray for every child to be delivered from these abuses. We pray that every parent will realize the damage that is done and change their ways. Bring healing and restoration to every child as well as every parent. Help them all to walk in righteousness that all children will be raised the way that You want them raised, to walk as Christ walked, and to fulfill all the plans and purposes that You have set before each person… in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
