Having Run From Your Past…

Image result for having escaped from your past of domestic violence

Having run from your past…
with death threats lingering still…
do you finally expose the warning…
that one day he would  finally kill.
For when warnings have come…
and you have left your life behind…
do you open that door again…
when old friends reach out to find.
For many don’t understand…
the violence hidden behind a door…
and have never heard evil spoken…
by one who claimed to love you before.
But old friends may have seen…
the abuse before the victims even did…
for many cut ties with the couple…
for they have seen what abusers hid.
So I pray for God’s guidance…
for only the doors He wants open to be…
and to lock all doors to evil…
with protection to all victims of adversity.

      • I’ve just had a very very interestingly similar scenario about a friend left behind that I decided to bring closure and forgiveness too only to realize I had then opened the door to a past that had no validation or respect for me and so I decided today I had to close the door again. I don’t want to step back into pain or negativity or bad memories. It is just so complicated sometimes and other times such a simple choice. Seems these days most things for me are very complex

      • I understand your dilemma. Many past friends get left behind when our lives are totally disrupted by domestic violence. Do we open that door again or not. I will have to pray and allow God to lead. God bless you!

  1. People often think that suppressing their past is the strong thing to do… Processing it with God at your side encourages true freedom! Accepting our past and allowing God to use our past hurts to do a good work in us… POWERfuL!
