When The Simplest Things…

See the source image

When the simplest things
make for a traumatic day.
And what should bring joy
brings fear and stress your way.
When special events come
that you have waited so long.
But someone shows up who
makes it all go wrong.
For traumas of our past
with its resultant PTSD…
get triggered with little things
that most don’t even see.
A flashback of memories
or a mean word spoken in haste…
make what should be pleasant
seem like a terrible waste.
For victims get wounded
by words and acts of man.
And PTSD gets triggered
in ways many don’t understand.
For what should be exciting
brings back memories with fears…
and our anxiety heightens
with a flood of panic and tears.
And this recurrent PTSD
is so very real…
which many abuse victims suffer
but God really does heal.
So Lord we call out You
to please heal us all today…
so we can overcome our past
and PTSD will not be triggered this way.

Dear Lord, only You see the wounds that are hidden deep within our hearts and souls of all who have suffered abuse. Only You know each trigger point that will set each into a web of tears and fears. Deliver us from these triggers and set each of us free from the wounds of our past. We pray for the Balm of Gilead to flow over us and cover all our wounds and soothe all our fears. We know that You did not give us a spirit of fear but of Power, Love and a sound mind… but we ask You to bring healing from these wounds and triggers so that we can all walk into the fullness that You have planned for each… in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

“For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.” 2 Timothy 1:7
