leaving destruction along the way.

start simple at first…

after repeated requests to vote…
to make alcohol sales okay.
But why would I want to approve…
a cause of great turmoil in my life…
having fled from drunken rampages…
before I was no longer his wife.
For I have seen the damage…

“Be Not Drunk”… A Message About Drinking Alcohol

As a Christian, I have been asked this question many times about drinking alcohol. As I was writing this posting, I also found this video that explains it in more depth. Now, I have included part of my story in this poem.. the rest of the story can be found in “The Walking Wounded.”

“Do you drink?”…
is a question I’ve repeatedly been asked.
Then when I reply “No”…
more questions then come even more fast.
“Do you think it’s a sin to drink?”
“Do you look down on others who do?”
Well, I only tell you my reasoning…
then you can evaluate your own heart too.
I answer it first by what scripture says…
for Jesus’ first miracle was to turn water to wine.
But the word also says “be not drunk”…
and abusing alcohol is what I too often find.

Addictions Are Destructive… But There’s a Chain Breaker

Addictions are destructive…
and children know it all so well…
for they watch and listen in families…
where drunkenness and abuses dwell.
And as I watched this video,
many memories came to mind…
as I remembered my own children…
and the troubled life we left behind.

Flirting With Danger

Flirting with danger…
is what many do today.
As the decisions they make…
lead them the wrong way.

Alcohol Abuse: Pray for the Children

Spending time with my children…
nothing in this life compares.
Especially during holidays…
and feeling their love in the air…
But when they leave for their dad’s…
my concern for them ensues.
For we all witnessed his violence…
when celebrating and alcohol is used.
