Domestic violence… Like a Switch Flipped Off and On
During October’s Domestic Violence Awareness Month, I want to continually bring awareness to some of the aspects of DV. So many do not understand the cycle of abuse and how victims become trapped in it. Some victims become trapped from threats, fear of violence, fear of being alone, financial fears, and some just from the cycle of good and bad that keeps circling between “honeymoon” and “explosive” phases. But one thing that we all need to realize is that things can go from good to bad to worst like a flip of a switch when dealing with someone with an abusive personality.

With so many becoming victims of the various abuses, sometimes we just need to post reminders of the warning signs to help people identify the signs and avoid these abusive relationships. Remember that many abusers can be very deceitful with their words, but their actions will speak louder than their words. Watch how they act. Do not be deceived.

Domestic Violence Day 12: Financial or Economic Abuse
For October’s Domestic Violence Awareness Month, I am continuing a series on the various abuses. Now, I will proceed with the next abuse: “Financial Abuse” or “Economic Abuse.”
Financial abuse or economic abuse is another form of domestic abuse. Withholding money, stealing money, excessive use of money, and restricting the use of money are some examples of financial abuse. Continue reading
