DV Awareness Day#20: Various Abuses– Which Have You Experienced?

Image result for all types of abuses

As I was thinking of the various abuses that so many of us have endured, I thought of providing a list and having people write which ones they have experienced. Too many people still think that verbal and emotional abuse is insignificant… but it is not. It is the forerunner that leads to the other abuses. Now I can tell you that there were times that I thought it would be easier to be hit than the constant verbal attacks. But no abuse is easy. No abuse is right. Stalking… It’s Very Difficult to Prove

At a recent domestic violence conference, legal advocates discussed stalking and it’s difficulty to prove. But they also stressed that all victims need to keep trying to get the restraining orders or protective orders that they need.

Deception and Stalking

Like standing at an elevator…
with their back to the door.
Staring at their victim…
going to another floor.

And leaning against a wall…
staring their victim down…
then “stalking” in a hall…
or wherever their victim is found.
Or lurking in the darkness…
watching their victims in the night.
Where no one can see…
but victims perceive with fright.
