Abusers are Thieves

“Abusers are thieves” were the words that came to me one morning. How many of us have lost so much of our lives by what has been stolen from us in joy, happiness, love, trust, wealth, security, self-esteem. The list is endless. Think about it…

Abusers are thieves…
who choose to do wrong…
like those who steal things…
that to them do not belong.
For abusers steal from victims…
in a variety of different ways…
some in one horrible moment…
others over many, many days.
For some abuse over time…
with words and actions they do…
stealing bits and pieces…
of victims like me and you.
For they tear us down…
repeatedly bit by bit…
and though they threaten…
many very seldom hit.
But the wounds get deeper…
as they continually chop…
and though we beg them…
they just will not stop!
And they steal confidence…
and destroy parts of your soul…
as the emotional abuse continues…
as the lies are believed as told.
Then there are many victims…
who experience horrific attacks.
then suffer the traumatic effects…
and fear the attackers will come back.
For they no longer feel safe…
with their innocence stolen…
for they experienced violence…
and now feel totally broken.
For abusers steal…
like thieves in the night…
taking what does not belong to them…
and this abuse is not right.
For they steal innocence and joy…
as well as happiness and peace…
with deep wounds created…
either instantly or piece by piece.
But God sees these wounds…
and all the abusers did steal…
And He gives restoration….
to those who come to Him to heal.
For no matter what is lost…
God can totally restore.
For He actually brings restitution…
and gives His children even more.
So don’t stay broken…
by these thieves in the night.
Let God heal and restore…
as you turn to Him and His Light.

The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy.
I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly
.” John 10:10

Dear Lord, You see all that has been stolen from Your children. Only You see the wounds down to their spirits and souls that have been inflicted upon them by these abusers who have stolen what did not belong to them. We ask for total healing and restoration. We pray for restitution over and beyond what has been lost. Redeem the time that we have lost in brokenness. Replace all that the thief has stolen, destroyed or killed in us and bring it in abundant excess with blessings poured upon us from generations past… in Jesus Name, we pray. Amen.

    • Awe… Thank you so much!! Of all the awards, this one is very special as it recognizes survivors of abuse. However, I will continue to be an “award free” blog. I deeply appreciate your support and encouragement, but still feel that I can not take credit. I praise God for what He has done for me and pray that many more will be rescued from their abusive situation. Thanks again and many, many blessings to you!

  1. That is why we need God and that is one of the many reasons he sent His Son. Only through Him can we let go of all the negative that has allowed the abuser to steal all those things. I have learned to love myself and to even forgive my abusers.

      • Very true my sister and praise be to our Abba Father because He loves us so very much. I want all that have been abused to come to Jesus and to be saved and made whole through Him. To feel the great power, but true gentleness as God embraces them and wipes their tear. To feel the complete and utter comfort and peace that only He can give! I want them to understand that through the Trinity of our one true God can they not only heal but reclaim those things that were stolen from them.

      • Amen!! I join you in prayer for each and every one! That all may come to know the “Heart” of our Father and walk into the fulness of our inheritance in Him. God bless you, my sister!

      • Amen!! I know if I had not come to know our Lord Jesus and our Abba Father and His love filled “Heart” I would be in a very dark place with all the pain I have to endure daily and the abuses I have endured throughout my life. The guidance of the Holy Spirit I see Him as the part of our Abba Father’s pure and gracious “Heart”. God bless you as well my sister and I cannot wait to meet you on that day we are called home!

  2. Amen to this post. A thief indeed. Those things that have been stolen can be reclaimed and our spirits can be restored. God really can heal us and give us life more abundant.

    • Amen, amen!! He sure can. His Word is Truth. I look forward for the restitution, not only in the natural but also spiritually, for all of us as we walk with Him. He has plans for each of us. Many blessings to you!

  3. Amen! The enemy must repay 7 times what he has stolen. (Proverbs 6:30-31 Excuses might even be found for a thief if he steals when he is starving! But even so, he is fined seven times as much as he stole, though it may mean selling everything in his house to pay it back.) The abuser has definitely stolen and there will be a 7 fold return–restoration with much interest!
