“Draining the Swamp”

“Draining the swamp”…
is a term we’ve recently come to hear…
and it’s something we all need to do…
to overcome pain of abuse and fear.
For many of us have been abused…
with negative words affecting our hearts…
so draining our inner swamps…
is part of making a fresh new start…
For abusive words and actions…
seem to throw dirt upon our souls…
and we have to get it cleaned out…
to accomplish what’s written on our scrolls.
For God has a plan and purpose…
to which He wants us to succeed…
so we have to be healed and restored…
and letting go of negative is what we need.
For hanging onto the dirt and mud…
is like swamp water sitting stale…
and if we don’t get it out…
it’s in that pit we may fail.
So be purified and refreshed…
like living waters that flow…
then you’ll be able to move forward…
as God’s Presence you come to know.
For He loves the brokenhearted…
and saves those who’s spirits are crushed…
and He will lift us out of the mud and mire…
rescuing us from the pits we were thrust.
So please turn to the Lord today…
and cast down all negative thoughts of the past…
for when all the negative is drained out…
we will have healing and restoration at last.

Dear Lord, You see all that goes on in our homes and around the world. You see the brokenness within each person and the “dirt” that the enemy uses to sabotage our futures. Deliver us all from the brokenness of our pasts.  Drain the swamps in our hearts and souls and in all places of abuse. Bring healing and restoration to all of us as You move us from a place of stale, muddy, swamp water to rivers of Living Waters where we will be refreshed, restored, and transformed… In Jesus’ Name. Amen.

“I waited patiently for the Lord;
And He inclined to me,
And heard my cry.
He also brought me up out of a horrible pit,
Out of the miry clay,
And set my feet upon a rock,
And established my steps.
He has put a new song in my mouth—
Praise to our God;
Many will see it and fear,
And will trust in the Lord.” Psalm 40:1-3

“casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ…” 2 Corinthians 10:5
